On 25th May, the first day of the Science and Technology Week, the ‘2024 Guangzhou Sports Science and Technology Week Opening Ceremony and Science Open Day’ hosted by the Guangzhou Municipal Science and Technology Bureau was held at the Guangzhou Sports Science Research Institute. As an invited enterprise, AUDIOWELL exhibited flexible pressure sensors and demonstrated their application in sports monitoring, contributing to the popularization and promotion of sports science and technology.
The event aims to promote scientific and technological achievements in the field of sports, popularize scientific knowledge, and enhance public awareness and understanding of sports science and technology. As a new type of pressure-sensitive element combining wide range, high sensitivity and high pressure resolution, the flexible pressure sensor attracted the attention of many visitors with its innovative design and excellent performance. At the event, AUDIOWELL not only showed the working principle of the sensor, but also demonstrated its various application functions in sports monitoring.
In addition, AUDIOWELL was awarded a certificate of honour by the Guangzhou Sports Science Research Institute and was authorized by the Guangzhou Sports Science and Technology Collaborative Innovation Center as a research cooperation unit. In order to give visitors an in-depth understanding of the role of science and technology in the promotion of sports, representatives from AUDIOWELL were invited to attend a lecture at the event, explaining in detail the working principle, function and importance of flexible pressure sensors in the promotion of sports.
Flexible pressure sensors can detect ‘light as a feather’ pressure changes, such as for the provision of human epidermal pressure measurement, can be used as gymnastics, fencing, equestrian and other high-skill, strong physical requirements of sports training monitoring tools.
In addition, the product is used as a process monitoring tool in track and field sports such as running, long jump, throwing and ball sports such as basketball, football, volleyball, table tennis, etc. It can monitor the whole process of changes in the plantar pressure of the athlete, and provide a scientific data basis for optimizing the athlete's power, posture and other technical elements.
Application of Flexible Pressure Sensor: Simulation Scenario 1
The figure below is a simulation scene that roughly imitates the change of force exerted by the feet in gymnastic sports. The screen shows that a pair of feet wearing only ordinary socks step on the flexible pressure sensor array, and any subtle movements they make can be detected by the sensors to correspond to the change of pressure at the foot position.

Next is a simplified simulation scenario of a running exercise, as can be seen from the image below: the tester's sneaker-clad feet stepped on the array of flexible pressure sensors, showing that both feet had similar footprint forces, and that when the left foot was lifted, the range of the footprint force to support the body with the right foot only was significantly expanded and intensified.The opposite is also true.
